The history of Old Glory
brings pride to the heart,
it's an extraordinary story
of which by writing I take part.
No one knows who designed it
who stitched life into the Stars and Stripes,
but I do know we will stand beside it
paying honor with voices that magnify.
Frances Hopkinson modified our Flag
in to what we have today,
no, it's not just a piece of rag
it stands for Freedom in the USA.
Many soldiers have gone to fight
many didn't make it back,
from the War between the States
to this war in Iraq.
No matter who we're fighting
together we've stood strong,
we never stopped believing
in the words of our song
"America The Beautiful
home of the brave and the strong."
Value is a lesson from our flag we have learned
and respect is a value which we give and we earn.
We as Americans are determined and strong,
confident in knowing the Our Flag Waves On.
