Some were drafted and some volunteered,
they served in places, most of us feared,
when the enemy fell, our country cheered,
is it any wonder our veterans are revered?
There's been many wars, and so much to do,
the American Soldier, always came through,
fighting in the air, on the land and the sea,
many gave their all for this land of the free!
We know all gave some, and some gave all,
the American Soldier wouldn't let his country fall,
he said I'll go when he heard his country call,
stand straight Veterans, you're walking tall!
We know that all the soldiers never had to fight,
but all took an oath, that any day or night,
they would fight the enemy, for in God's sight,
if they died, they died doing what was right!
We still speak English, and the world knows,
it's because anywhere the American Soldier goes,
they'll protect us, because that's the life they chose,
our Soldiers and Veterans, are the REAL HEROES!

Lord a couple of years ago.
I lay here today a soldier
I know some don't understand
I will try to explain
So maybe you can
I served my country
For many a year
I retired long ago
The soldier still here
I put on my uniform
I wore it to foreign lands
The soldier I was
Is still in the man
I have been a husband, father, and friend
To some of you here
But I've been a soldier all along
Even after so many a year
My salute
I render today
I'm still a soldier
